Trackpad Model Foto Focus

IDF Shermans M-50 and M51

Israel was forced to improvise weapons of all kinds for their specific purposes. The gun of choice for the Sherman-based M-50 series had already been chosen by the French for their newly-designed light tank, the AMX-13. Soon after, concern over more modern tanks being supplied to surrounding Arab states prompted a increase in firepower. Once again, the Sherman was chosen as the base vehicle and the new 105mm gun, already mounted in the French AMX-30, was the choice of weapon for the M-51.

This Model Foto Focus unravels the mysteries of these machines. For the modeller, this is the ultimate walkaround for an accurate model.

What do you say?

After being lucky enough to have been given the chance to review other IDF books from Trackpad Publishing I jumped at the chance to do a review on the IDF Shermans M-50 and M-51 and I am so glad that I did. The book itself is a picture heavy offering – ideal book to gain a complete insight into the history, development and use of this Sherman based tank.
The high-quality photos make it easy for you to see detail both inside the tank as well as the outside. As you go through each chapter, it becomes easy to see the changes made by the IDF to upgrade and in some parts change it completely for their own use in the many years that they used them in their armed forces.
